ELBOW VALLEY
The exterior of a home may require an update for both functional and aesthetic reasons just as much as the interior, though both were in need of refreshing for our Elbow Valley client. The addition of two lively yet rustic red cedar front and back decks to the exterior, as well as an elegant reconfiguration of the existing kitchen, dining, and living areas within provided the client with a charmingly warm and revitalized home.
SIZE – 1650 Sq.Ft
AREA – Main Floor, Deck & Pergola
Revamping the front and back decks required both a removal of all existing material, as well as a redesign of a number of layout and aesthetic features that graced the original structure of both. Replacing aged, sun-bleached boards to the back, stone to the front, and the metal/glass ballisters on both decks with stain grade cedar brought an air of rustic charm and stateliness to the otherwise grey exterior.
Extending the back deck into an additional, trellised patio area increased entertainment capacity and the ability to enliven the property’s back elevation with friendly plant life and decor. We can almost hear our clients, who were always collaborative and welcoming asking, “Who’s ready to BBQ?!”
Fresh maple hardwood flooring flows through the newly configured main floor toward the ultimate destination of the bright, spacious kitchen. This family friendly space showcases a mixture of deep gray perimeter cabinetry and natural maple on the generous island, all abundant with storage. The built-in bar and buffet welcomes guests and allows for ease in everyday serving as well as formal entertaining.
Crown moulding, carrara countertops, the natural stone clad fireplace, and shaker style cabinetry keep the home’s classic inclinations in place, while sleek grey paint and tile, chrome and stainless steel hardware, fixtures, and appliances, and bold pops of colour introduce a balance of decidedly modern elements.
