As time moves forward and life begins to shift in response to changing circumstances and experiences, so can the homes that these life changes occur in. For the second time we were able to work with our Sundance clients on their kitchen renovation – one we had taken part in 18 years prior. They reached out to us again to modernize their current space and reflect the new time and place they now found themselves in: excited to welcome and host new family members, old friends, and the pitter patter of grandchildren’s feet!
SIZE – 330 Sq.Ft
AREA – Kitchen
In addition to a full reconfiguration of their existing kitchen and a revamp of all finishes, fixtures, and appliances, this property allowed for a small addition that created a rectangular framework for the kitchen in lieu of the previous angular walls. Upon exploring multiple space planning options, the clients settled on a layout that relocated the refrigerator, opening up the room for a large communal island and wall of custom cabinetry for pantry item storage. The addition of a built-in hutch in the kitchen nook became a lovely feature, as well as an opportunity for additional storage.
The finishes for the kitchen were kept very classic in design: dark stained maple shaker style millwork, natural oak hardwood flooring, beautiful natural quartzite countertops, and an elegant hand-glazed Pratt & Larson tile backsplash. However, the real show stopper was the timeless custom brushed stainless steel hood fan shroud above the chef’s six burner Wolf range.
The statement vintage inspired glass and satin nickel Rejuvenation “hood” pendants suspended above the island added a layer of visual interest and marked the central island zone. The end product showcases classic design and beautifully balanced contrast, both contemporary in style and wholly representative of the client in their new and forthcoming phases of life.
