This stunning lakeside home has seen many renovation projects through our firm over the years—evolving along with its family. With the kids all grown up and moved out, our clients wanted this renovation project to focus on a room that they have been dreaming about for years. An elegant, old-world wine cellar was their goal, and they had just the space for it in an unused basement storage room. We started with designing a wine room that could showcase up to 2000 bottles of fine wine while considering the elements of precise wine storage: appropriate temperature, humidity and light exposure. Custom millwork in warm mahogany was created to house the bottles and the floor was laid with classic slate tile. A tasting table was added for convenient sampling and discreet speakers were installed in the magnificent “Starburst” ceiling. The speakers and our custom-installed display lighting—to highlight special selections—brought a touch of modernity to this old- world design. Our clients had a clear vision of what they were looking for in this room, and we were able to create the spectacular wine cellar they had been wishing for.
